Leland Isley began playing guitar at the
ripe old age of 13 and by the time he was 18 he was a regular in the local Houston
music scene. After attending the University of Houston he moved to Atlanta, GA
to pursue a career in music. Leland soon landed a job working for several
artists signed to the then up-and-coming blues music label, Ichiban Records.
Not long after, he found himself bouncing around the United States and Europe.
Along the way, Leland has worked with notable artists like Trudy Lynn, Theodis Ealey,
R. L. Burnside, Frankie Lee, and Johnny Clyde Copeland to name a few.
Leland returned to Houston in '98 as a seasoned veteran and joined the popular
regional troupe, Global Village. Later he joined a cutting edge Zydeco unit
called "Little Brian and the Zydeco Travelers".
The band’s unique fusion of Southern Louisiana Creole music and funk made
them a popular act at venues large and small throughout the United States and abroad.
While still touring on occasion, when at home, Leland graciously lends his skills to
the Vibes and helps make the band, arguably, one of the best in the Houston area.
Leland is also a professional studio and event photographer
and the owner of 2
North Photography in Houston, Texas.
