Michael Spencer joined
the Vibes in summer 2007. He is a native Houstonian who started playing drums and guitar in the late 60's. Since heading down the musical road in those
simpler times, he has toured throughout North America and East Asia with various rock, country, and show groups.
Michael has worked with a variety of artists such as singer/songwriter Sandy Stewart, Fleetwood Mac member Stevie Nicks, songwriter/producer David
Munday, producer Beau Hill, and the 80's new wave pop-punk group Z-Rocks.
His original composition "Shadows of Catherine Field" appears on the soundtrack of the Rindy
Jones surf flick TEX 2 MEX CHIX.
He co-produced the heavy metal hair band Lillian Axe's "Live 2002" double CD.
Over the years, Michael has been active in music distribution as the Director of International Sales for Southwest Wholesale Records and Tapes, and as Latin
American and European
Account Manager for Los Angeles based Pacific Coast One Stop.
When not immersed in the music biz, Michael enjoys surfing and international travel.
More than once these interests have resulted in great surf-trips to destinations such as South Africa and Central America.
Michael has a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Spanish from
the University of Houston, graduating summa cum laude. He also
attended the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain.
His wife, Liz Conces Spencer, is highly regarded in the Houston art community for her abstract landscapes and figurative acrylic work.
Michael and Liz live in the Houston Heights and have a vacation home at the Condominios Anclote in Punta de Mita, Mexico.
